Paul Kibii Tergat

Paul Tergat is and will always be one of the greatest long -distance runners if all time. He could very well be the best in his generation had it not been for Ethiopian Haile Gebreselasie. In the Olympic Games 10000m finals of both 1996 (Atlanta) and 2000 (Sydney), the Ethiopian beat Tergat by a nose after Tergat led both races into the final lap. He also lost to Haile at two World Championship events, getting silver in both occasions. In addition to the these, Tergat also has other major wins in his decorated career, including being the World Cross Country Champion for 5 years consecutively from 1995 and he also at one point held the 10,000m World Record. Tergat changed to the Marathon and he has excelled at the Half-Marathon and the Marathon. Currently, Tergat holds two World records in the Marathon... Away from the track, Tergat is also held in high esteem internationally and as a result, Tergat was named a UN World Food Programme (WFP) "Ambassador against hunger" in January 2004.

Paul Tergat is currently in Athens Greece hoping to cap his illustrious career with an Olympic Gold in the Marathon. All the Best Soldier!
